11/28/2002 Entry: "Thanksgiving"

OK so I was supposed to sleep in today which is a sure recipe for me getting up too early - I have no idea why. Typically if I have no other plans to do anything or have 'the day off' I try and get a little extra snooze time but that's rarely the case. Today was just such a day.

Oh well.

So I log into my email only to find an increased amount of SPAM - where in the (&^% do they get this information? Most all of the SPAM says that it was obtained through an "OPT-IN" list - whatever THAT is. And, most all of the SPAM has a link where you can go to a numbered WWW and be removed form the list. I think that by clicking on that link will just ADD me to more lists.

So, as I am running through my emails I see one from........big build up here.... me?

Yes! I sent out a SPAM for "Tight Virg..." - well you get the idea. OK - now I'm a bit miffed. I'll probably receive 90 hate mails about this. Fab.

I have finally resorted to using a domain SPAM blocker which my server offers. I have to 'program in' all of the domains and/or email addresses I wish to block which is a pain. I wish I could block out Hotmail as about 60% of my SPAM has a Hotmail extension. I figure that I get about 4 legitimate emails from Hotmail a week and the other 70+ are regarding my mortgage, Viagra or of a sexual nature.

Granted I'm no shrinking violet but enough is enough. Do any idiots actually visit these sites that are sent out in SPAM?

Well, it's time to put kettle on and have some coffee or, perhaps, a nice cup of tea.
