12/19/2002 Entry: "Merry Leather Christmas"

As you are no doubt aware, Christmas is just around the corner (literally) and many of us are doing our last-minute or just starting our Christmas shopping. I must admit that I have done a little Christmas present OPENING.

No - that was not a typo. I was slightly naughty and have opened a gift. Well, it's not really that cut-n-dry so let me explain:

I had ordered a new holster set-up from Matt Del Fatti (Holster Meister Extraordinaire) several weeks ago and was all set to do the 12 week wait for delivery. Just the other day my lovely bride called to tell me that I had received a couple of boxes in the mail... one from Pantheon Chemical (MPro7) and one from Matt Del Fatti.

"Surely you jest" I said.
"Uh, no Rambo, there is a box here from Matt" she retorted.
"No way" I replied!
Do you see where this is going? I'll cut to the chase....

I get home and ripped into the Del Fatti box and much to my chagrins it was filled with "The Wall Stet Journal"! Heyyy - just what I wanted! Then I noticed that the WSJ was actually hiding a few items - so I dug more.
A holster!
A belt pad!
Another belt pad!
A THIRD belt pad!
A belt!
A belt?!?
I didn't order a belt... Hey - there's a card in there too. To paraphrase, the card was to inform me that several (close to 35) Board Members had all gotten together and pitched-in and bought the whole rig for me for Christmas!

>>Shocked<<

As my wife Joan can attest - I was completely speechless when it dawned on me what this all was and for those of you that know me can say that I am RARELY ever speechless. I just could NOT believe my eyes!

See, so TECHNICALLY I didn't open up a Christmas present 'cause I didn't KNOW it was a PRESENT!

Believe this - I am truly one lucky guy. I have been truly blessed to have such a great a bunch of folks gather at some cyber-stop on the Information Superhighway to chat about guns, lights, knives, life and other related topics - I am just overwhelmed by your generosity and thoughtfulness, especially since only a small fraction of us have even met or chatted on the phone. It just truly amazes me that in this sometimes screwed up world there are still a legion of good and fun loving people around that I can call friends.

Thank you one and all for making this yet another very special Christmas. God bless you and yours.
