Edster thanks for that advice

I currently have a Secret 8 Second* kinda cool .avi file that Stephen said he would add a link to (Special Topics) (? or [tiny whine]can I have my own link :-)** ???

I'd like to add sound and maybe some other stuff (stills + graphics)before it's posted.

If I just want to add sound to the .avi, what is the best way to do that with a standard Win2000 system?

Is there any good shareware that creates Flash as you recommend? Or is Vegas Video it? Is there good shareware that adds stills + graphics to AVI ?

As far as shareware, etc., I only know what Google spits out smile . I happened to know about Vegas Video because Sonic Foundry is pushing it heavily in their recent catalogs.

I have done Flash before. You can get a time-restricted free trial (30 days?). The site is http://www.macromedia.com .

Being the High Empress of Code Hacks wink , most of the "multithread" and event-driven stuff in Flash will be old hat to you. The biggest problem will be that Flash is mostly geared towards vector-based graphics rather than pictures and streaming video. It definitely does support them, though.

I was looking into some video mpeg-editing software a while back. Adding sound to these is not hard but the MPEG compression scheme makes frame-level video editing an advanced feature. I don't know if AVI uses a similar scheme as MPEG.

Either streaming video or a Flash presentation will work, of course. It just depends on whether you want an interactive feel or more of a beginning-to-end narrative. I guess you could also do a full-length video then break it apart into a Flash presentation.

...and if you're not careful, you could end up making something as silly as this .

OK. I've used Macromedia Director(?) on an older version of Windows to spoof someone at a company meeting (his head on the dancing baby cartoon body) and that wasn't too bad. That was the last time I messed with video editing.

Actually, hmm.. I have the ATI AllInWonder video card (with a 2 monitor system - the most useful upgrade you can do to a Win2000 system is add another monitor. You can mouse from one to the other for the cost of a basic video card + a monitor) This ATI card might have some software that came with it since it has all the TV / cable hookups on the card.

There is a video available from www.arizonaresponsesystems.com that shows detailed disassembling of several HK handguns, including the P7. I think the cost is $25. I have the one they did for SIGS, and while it does not have the highest quality production standards, it displayed how to take a SIG all the way down.
