I took a really good 6 hour pistol class yesterday. We probably fired about 400 rounds. The P7 got hot as shit, but was fine with a glove on my right hand.

One of the drills was clearing a doublefeed. Somewhere in the process of racking the slide forcefully, I must have depressed the takedown button because my slide assembly flew off the frame downrange. I just stood there stunned for a few seconds holding half a pistol.

I think this classifies not only as user error but also as a design problem. The sights got whacked pretty hard and I have to re-adjust. The cement at the range was painted, so hopefully I won't find too much damage on the sights and pistol after I scrape off paint.

I finally had the nerve and time to inspect my pistol. Looks like the sights took the brunt of the impact. The rear sigh is pushed sidewards by about 1/8". The front sight is a HIVIZ that is now dented to the point that a light pipe will no longer fit. Back to factory sights.

Id say its a blessing that the removable/replaceable part of your slide took the brunt. Seems like there is a Jean Claude movie where he disables two guards with P7s by popping the slides off. Good luck getting your baby back to new. Good for you for using your P7.

That's the way I see it. Back to stock sights. Will add a dab of glow paint on the dots to make them more visible.

Just for fun, I pinged HIVIZ support. Even though this was 100% my fault, they are replacing the sight. Nice of them.

Many moons ago I was running a P7M13 in a particularly rainy shotgun class (using P7M10 mags....don't ask). During a string of fire my shotgun went dry and I transitioned to a my P7 which promptly had a stoppage......tap-racked and my slide peter-pan'd into a puddle about 5 feet in front on me. The haters all danced in a circle that day singing ding-dong the witch is dead. To be honest, it was pretty damn funny. That was the last day I used an M10 mag in an M13 and I switched all of my take down buttons the "low-profile" type.
